REFRIGERATOR MODELS TO BE SHOWN AT COOKING SCHOOL Not every housewite has an elec- trical refrigerator today, bul, ac- cording to electrical engineers, it won't be long before every modern home is equipped with one. Every up-to-date and conscientious house- hold manager wants one. Most wo- men are convinced of its\ economy, cleanliness, and ready dollar-and- cent saving in food costs. They long for the dainty ice cubes; the additional aid it offers in preparing cvery-day meals, ith their minds made up to this extent, only one problems remains-- what make of refrigerator shall they buy? There are certain common sense questions that one asks about any niece of domestic mechanical equip- ment. What is the initial cost? How much' does it cost to operate? Io keep in oider? What is the reputation of the maker? What is the guarantee? What points has this refrigerator that the other has not? How 'do these points tally with 1n.y requirements? ' What have been the experiences of my friends with this refrigerator? In answering these questions for the General Electric refrigerator, it is pointed out that when a house- wits buys it, she buys it with the same sense of assurance and power with which she might buy a Rolls- Royce motor car. She knows, and her friends know, that she has made a fine purchase. In regard to cost of operation-- General Electric refrigerator uses singularly little current. The mech- anical perfection of the motor is one reason for this; the other is the placing of the mechanism on top of the refrigerator. Every mo- tor manufactures some heat and lieat always rises. In addition, the motor is the primary means of re- moving the heat within the cabinet. It is unsound mechanical construc- fion, therefore, for the heat to be imprisoned under and circulating around the very place in which the motor is working to chill. In short, it i like a man on a hot day run- ning to stir up a breeze to keep himself cool For 15 years engineers worked in the great General Electric Re- , search laboratories before they were content to plac this refrigerator on th market. Now the complete unit is manufactured in Canada and the long-standing reputation of General Electric is guarantee of record peg- formance, but, in addition, an un- qualified three-year guarantee goes with the sale of every model, and hundreds of thousands of owners testify to the fact that never has a cent been paid for service Regarding the refrigerator itself, the smallest model has 7 1-3 square feet of shelf area. The fact that the mechanism is on top as well as the special design of the freezing chamber and the shelves accounts for this roominess. The monitor top, as it is termed, 4s\ hermetically- sealed in a sheath of gteel together with ifs permanent sipply of oil. It leads a life-of complete seclusion and ads 2 Mie rem dirt, moisture and rust. pesatt contgol regulator is there on top, too, convenient to hand. The cabinet is all steel--welded. Inside the cabinet the corners are rounded so no food can find a hiding 'place in them. Legs raise the sabinet high above the floor to make sweep- ing easy. The latches and hinges are marvels of trouble-free durabil- ity. General Electric refrigerators are sold in Oshawa by Ross, Ames and Gartshore, King Street West.
