Violet Anderson There are other noted swim- mers at Johnny Walker's camp, ond all of them add to the inter- est which is being taken in their training. For instance, there is Violet Anderson, tha champion girl long distance swmmer of Scotland. Miss Anderson holds the record for swimming the Firth of Forth at its widest point, | ond is a powerfully built swim- mer. While most of her swim- ming has been done in salt water #he is rapidly becoming accustom- ed to the fresh waters of Lake Johnny Walker is teach- fug her some points which will increase her speed and she should be a real contender. Doris Beresford Doris Beresford, another Tor- onto girl is the other girl mem- ber of the camp, and has a recora of excellent swimming perform- ances behind her. She is training faithfully and is also hopeful of doing well in the swim. Warren Anderson From the maritime provinces comes their champion long dis- tance swimmer, Warren Ander- son, to try his luck in the 1931 marathon. He is built on the same lines as George Young, is big and powerful, with plenty of endurance and a steady plugging gdit which will keep him in the water after most of the others have passed out. I.ast year, with- ing, he went about thirteen of Lakeview Pavilion Is Popular The Lakeview Pavilion, at Lake- view Park, is one of the most pop- ular places of recreation to be found 'along the Lake Ontario Shore. Every night, hundreds of young people from Oshawa, and from other points as well, find their way down there, to enjoy dancing to the strains of one of the finest dance orchestras in this part of the prov- ince. The Pavilion itself forms an ideal setting for dancing, with its cool atmosphere, effective lighting system,, and soft decorations. Robt. Fraser, the manager, has had long experience in operating the .Pav- ilion, and knows just what its pat- rons want in the way of music and attractions, with the result that it is always a delight to pay a visit to it. In conjuncion. with the Pavilion there is a well-equipped restaurant, which is also a popular place for visitors to the park, on account of the wholesome and well-prepared food, the excellent service and mod- crate charges, Lakeview Pavilion does much to attract thousands of visitors to Oshawa every summer, and with the effort which is made to keep it u up to the highest pos- sible standard as a place of recre- ation and entertainment, this is not surprising, the fifteen miles in the race.
