STAPLES After a brief illness, the death occurred at the Oshawa General Hospital on Monday of John How~ ard Staples, a resident of Whitby for abouf a vear, and beloved hus- band of Alice M. Rogers. The de- ceased, who was in his 64th year, wag born in the Township of Ca- van, near Peterborough. which he left when a boy. The greater part of his life was spent in Fene- lon Township, where he succesg- fully carried on farming opera- tions. In April of 1929 deceased came to Whitby from Oshawa, and purchased the property known as "The Gables," on Dundas street east, A man of genial disposition, he had made many friends since coming here, and his passing' is deeply regretted. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from his late residence to Mount Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Kingston road east, and was attended by quite a' number of relatives and friends. The service was conduct: ed by Rev. Mr. Cragg, of King street United Church, Oshawa, of which deceased was a member, Deceased is survived by his wife, two sons, one daughter, two broth- ers and two sisters, lA, LL Society, telling of the work done by this organization, raising funds for the Home Mission field and sending a bale out to the west. Gilchrist and indicated that this department is growing at such a rate that the present accommodation is fast becoming inadequate.
