C. Young, the Rev. Father William A. Fleming, chaplain of San Quentin Prison, declared that prohibition is "3 miserable failure" and is crowding jails and prisons. Excerpts from his report fellow: ; : "The crime wave. that is sweeping the length and breadth of the lan at the present time has given food for serious thought to those who have the interest of the future wel- fare of our citizenry at heart." "Some have tried to legislate mor- ality into the people. Several of the lea- gueps led in prayer during the wor- ship period, Mrs. Lyons, who has been ill at the home of her sister, Mrs. Edna Ruse, for some time, returned to her home at Neepawa, Man., on Tuesday. Her daughter, Mrs, Dr. Kippen of Newdale, who spent a few days here accompanied her to her home, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Salter visit- ed relatives at Greenbank on Sun- day. : Geo, Barron conducted the Sunday school on Sunday afternoon, in the abgence of the superintendent, Mr. Salter. Quite a number of her friends here attended the funeral of Mrs. H. Cryderman, Bowmanville, on Friday afternoon, which took place from St. John's church. Cuddy, who is brakeman on the New York Cen- trai and 23 years of age, had ar- cumulated the $3,000, and had been gradualling adding to it until a yedr ago.
