PROTECTIVE TARIFF ON RADIO PARTS IN AUSTRALIA URGED Sydney, Australia, Dec. 7--Manu- facturers of radio apparatusin Aus- tralia are worried over the invasion of foreign manufactured parts. Aus- tralia is now second only to Canada as a market for American-made radio goods and Australian manufacturers foresee ruin unless a protective tar- iff law is eriacted. At present there is a proposal to place a higher duty on radio receivers but that, in the opinion of manufacturers, is not enough. They want the tariff applied to other radio parts as well. One of the strongest claims~that could be made for the protection of the industry, according to E. Voight, secretary of the Australian Radio '"'anufacturers' Association, was that it should be self-supporting in times of mational stress. It woul be obvious he said, that the flooding of the Australian market with loose parts would mean that the radio manufacturers would become merely assemblers and the project for the establishment of a national radio in dustry would probably prove a fail- ure. * Rocks and Leghorns. | R.{vided by the existing . legislation, d ifleet of steamships to the West in- DEER HEADS mounted in life-like styles.
