Alleyne, Juliet Meighan (Died)

Juliet Meighan Alleyne, 78, of
Bowmanville, Ontario, passed
away on September 29, 2021,
at Etobicoke General Hospital
of complications following a
stroke she suffered in Guyana
in May of 2021. Juliet was born
on June 3, 1943, in Campbellville,
Guyana, to parents Ita
Albertha and James Alleyne.
She attended St. Roses High
School and graduated from
the University of Guyana with
a degree in Business
Administration. She also graduated
from Pitman Commercial
Institute in Guyana. Juliet was a
globe trotter. While living in
Guyana she worked at the
following places: the Forestry
Department in Georgetown,
the Office of the Prime
Minister of Guyana as Special
Political Assistant, Guyana
Airways as Corporation
Secretary and briefly served in the
Guyana National Service.
Juliet travelled to London,
England in 1964 and worked
as a Legal Secretary. In 1970,
she returned to Guyana, and
left again in 1990 to live in
Canada. She retired there
from the Workplace Safety and
Insurance Board where she
held the position of
Administrative Assistant. Juliet also
lived in Bermuda for a brief
time after retirement and had
spent much of her time before
her passing in her beloved
hometown of Georgetown,
Guyana. Juliet was an avid
reader, loved travelling and
gourmet cooking and even
had her own restaurant for a
while. She was a personal
coach, had a passion for art,
spoke conversational French
and some Latin as well. She
enjoyed Gospel and Classical
music. Juliet was well loved by
many, lived a rich and varied
life and will be sorely missed.
Juliet is survived by her sisters
Pamela Alleyne-Tracey and
Regina Thomas, her brother-in
-law Frank Thomas, many
nieces, nephews, great nieces,
great nephews, cousins, and
countless friends. She is
predeceased by her parents
Ita Albertha and James
Alleyne and siblings Thelma,
Gloria and Victor. We would
like to extend a special thank
you to all the nurses, doctors
and staff that provided care
for her at the Woodland's
Hospital and St. Joseph's
Hospital Mercy Care after the
stroke in Guyana.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions,
there will be a private service
held for family and close friends.
