' V, Weir (Belleville) Final Averages C.0.B.L. | (Compiled by Fred C Beaudry, official league statistician) George Ada, right fielder of the Kingston team, led the batters of the C.0.B.L,_ for the season which has just ended, finishing up with a mark of .378. Ada is topped by three batters, but nome of them can be classed as regulars. : Singulary enough the three leading hitters among the regulars, were the outfielders of the Kingston team, Ada, Buck and Cherry, they apparently forming the A B.C. of swat in the Central Ontario League. Ada had only a margin of five points over Buck, and eight over Cherry, the latter being the outstanding hitter in the league in the last few games his team played. Ada and V. Weir of Belleville had the most singles, 24; Buck, Cherry, H. Mills and Harrison werd tied for doubles with 8 each; Britton of Kingston had most triples, 5, and Young of Oshawa was the home-run king with four circuit swats, Youhg alse had the honor of hitting for most bases, his 25 hits being good for 48 bases, three more than Cherry of Kingston. Harry Blakely of Belleville proved the best base-runner, stealing 13 sacks, while Buck and Britton of Kingston, V. Weir of Belleville, and Kellar of Oshawa each had § sac- rifices, only to be topped by 'Shiner' Johnston of Peterboro, with 7, Cherry scored the most runs, 28, while Wolfe of Oshawa was second with 23. Kingston Leads in Team Hitting ; In team hitting Kingston were leading mainly through Belleville's slump in batting in their last three or four games. At that Kingston had only 13 points on the Nationals, wha topped Oshawa by nine points. But in slugging the Motor City team lead, making their 199 hits count for 299 bases, 19 more than the Nationals, Oshawa were ahead in the number of extra-base hits they made, getting 33 doubles, 14 trijes, and 13 homers in addition to their 139 singles, Belleville showed the way on the paths, with 61 stolen bases and also in sacrifice hitting.
