SERIOUS RIOTS IN BANGALORE, INDIA 88 Hindus Taken to Hospital During the Strike of Students Bangalore, India, Aug. 1.--Fifty- five Hindus were taken to a hos- pital yesterday, 10 of them in a serious condition, as a result of riots that grew out from a strike of students. The youths were dis- satisfied with the site which au- thorities assigned them for an image of the god whom they wor- shipped. At one stage the disorders had become so general that a regiment of lancers was summoned from Mysore. The students yesterday induced 3,000 boys to quit their studies at all educational institutions in the city. The entire student body pro- ceeded to Government offices and started to throw stones. Police dis- persed them. Later they re-agsembled and marched to the house of a leading Mohammedan. Their demonstra- tions in front of that house drew others until there were 10,000 persons jammed into the streets of the neighborhood. Some shots were fired at the crowd and it Is alleged that these came from the Mohammedan residents. The Mysore lancers moned and arrested four Moham- medans. The injured are still be- ing taken to the hospitals, Sev- eral police officers were hurt with missiles. All Hindu shops are closed. PRINGE HENRY MAY tain the Personnel of H.M.S.
