SAINT JORN IRON PLANT PURCHASED Now Controlled by Dry. dock and Shipbuilding Company Saint John, N.B., July 12.-- Sale of the plant of the Saint John Iron Works has been made by the former owners to James Playfair and Frank M. Ross, who control the Saint John Drydock and Ship- building Company, Limited, accord ing to an announcement made here Tuesday. The plant will be continued in operation under the new owners, with George H. Waring as mana- ger, at present manager of the Union Foundry and Machine Works Limited. The latter firm will pass out of existence, as a consequence of the property being expropriat- ed by the Saint John Board of Harbor Commissioners to provide for harbor facilities, expansion and the difficulty of owners to locate another suitable site. One of the interesting features in the trams- fer is the fact that Mr. Waring will assume charge of a business, the foundation of which was laid by his grandfather in Saint John nearly 100 years ago. Mr. War- ing is also superintendent of fer- ries for the City of Saint John. "ROOF LEAKING?"
