FOUR SKELETONS ARE DISCOVERED Buffalo, May 9.--Workmen dig- ging at Old Fort Erie, Ont, Sund day, uncovered the skeletons of three British soldiers and an .In- dian who fell during the American glege of the Fort in the war of 1812. Fragments of a shell and the position of the skeletons igdicated that the four had been buried by the missile that killed them. The skeletons were found huddled to- gether, face downward, about two feet below the surface. J. E. Muth, caretaker at the fort, found buttons of the 108rd regi- ment and plain metal buttons on three of the skeletons. The fourth was bare of identification marks, indicating that he had been an In- dian ally of the British garrison. ' PERTH REGIMENT COMMAND VESTED IN LIEUT.-COL. TROW Ottawa, May 9.--Military pro- motions and transfers announced at the Department of National De- fence today, include Major R, M. Trow, promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, to command the Perth Regiment, with regimen- tal headquarters at Stratford, Ont., vice" Lieutenant-Colonel A. W. Deacon. FURTHER RELIEF _ IS NOW ASSURED Hoine Bank Shareholders to Receive Additional Pay- ment for Losses Ottawa, May 9.--Representing shareholders of the Home Bank, a small delegation has been here frequently this session and work- ing in conjunction with a commit- tee of members representing cone stituencies where branches of the defunct bank were located. They think that additional relief is practically assured. The previ- ous appropriation by Parliament, as modified by the Senate was found to be short about $400,000 of the amount needed to- provide the contemplated ald. Some cases, eligible for assistance, falled to get it through not making any ap- plication. They assumed they would be paid anyway. A varlety of other reasons account for the in- adequacy of the original amount. It is not yet certain whether a bill or a vote ii the supplementary estimates will be brought in, though the latter form seems more probable. There is littla dount, however, of supplementary legisla- tion on the subject. Years of Headaches "and Liver Troubles Stopped by "Fruit-a-tives" MR. R. A. JOVAY. "Out of 61,078 cases allowed during 1927 only 2,349 had any permanent partial disability at the close of their convalescence, and a great percentage of these perma- nent partial disabilities are cases of minor injuries which do not dis- able a workman sufficiently to cause hime to seek new employ- ment. "The year 1926 contains the last completed figures and, shows that out of 2,421 cases of permanent disability, 2,116 were less than 10 per cent disabled, 2,307 less than 30 per cent disabled, and in most cases of less tahn 25 to 30 per cent of disability rehabilitation is not ALIENATION SUIT HEARD IN QUEBEC Quebec, May 9.--A suit for all- enation of affections was heard Monday in the Superior Court, when Jos. Gosselin, of Levis, had a fellow .townsman before the Court in an effort to secure $500 dam- ages. Gosselin claimed that the de- fendant, Jos. Galiachant, had in- duced his wife to leave him with | nine young children and go and reside with Galiachant. The Court accepted the plea made by the defense that the wom- an had not been Influenced by Gal- fachant, but had left her homre on account, of ill-treatment. The Prime Minister will propose that the House does not sit on As- cension day, May 17, or on Empire Day, May 24. The long debate over the Natur- alization Act is not only motivated by opposition to it as a matter of principle, but as a gesture to force the Government to move the House into supply early in the day, so that on a number of projected amendments, the opposition may criticize the government policy. The first amendment of the kind is on the subject of reparations. BELLEVILLE HAS NO FLYING FIELD Belleville, May 9.--Belleville is one of the few prominent cities in Eastern Ontario which has no Municipal Airport. Situated as we re in an alvantageous position be- ween Toronto and Montreal, this ity should be a regular stopping- off place for pilots who do not care to make long hops. The Leavens boys have a landing field in Pon- ton's Field, but it requires more work and needs cinders on the run- Jars. This is a place where the city could step in and donate enough cinders from the Gas Works tp cover both these rnuways.
