DOUBLE SEAYING Edwin F. Allen, 28, Whe Was Recently Converted Admits Crime El Reno, Okla., April 18.--Con- fession to the killing of the Rev. Edward W. Hall and Mrs. Eleanor Mills, near Brunswick, N.J., Sep- tember 14, 1922, was signed in the county jail here today by El. win F. Allen, 28 years old, who re- cently was converted by a religious meeting in the jail. The confession, supplemented by a written statement to W. P. Mor- rison, County Attorney of Canadian County, says that he was paid $7.- 000 for the killing by an Elizabeth, N.' J., dentist, who, it says, was a ' relative of Mrs. Mills, It says that Allen's common law wife held Mrs. Mills while Allen shot her. April 18.-- Four persons are dead and a fifth may die as the result of a. fire which early today razed a building on the farnr of James O'Flannagan, six miles from Turtleford. The dead are: Mrs. Peasley, housekeeper for O'Flannagan and his brother, and het three children, two girls, aged 12 and nine years, and a fouryear- old boy. O'Flannagan is so badly burned that little hope is held out for his recovery. He is in hospi- tal at Turtleford. ° The O'Flannagan brothers occu- pied one house ow the farm, while the housekeeper and her children had the use of a two-roomed shack. Following his usual custom. James O"Flannagan lighted a fire in the shack for the woman, Pour: ing what he believed to be coal oil into the stove, the man was knock- ed down by a terrific explosion, and the frail structure was envelop- ed in a mass of flames, It is be- lieved that James seized a can of gasoline to start the fire. QUEBEC YOUTH IS HELD FOR MURDER | Alleged Confession of Crime Following Days of Drinking Montreal, April 18.--Brought back here from Vermont as a mra- terial witness, a 19-year-old youth of St. Armand, Que., has confess- ed he killed Harvey Dupont, aged 23, of the same place, on October 28 last, provincial police announe- ed tonight. The self-confessed murderer, whose name is withheld until the reopening of the coroner's |' inquest at St. Armand tomorrow, says he slew his companion with a monkey wrench and then stole $42 and a gold watch from his pocket. Young Dupont's body was discov- ered in a ditch near St. Armand on Wednesday of last week, almost six months from the time of the murder. The alleged murderer fled from the village two days after the killing and has been in Vermont ever since. Detective Dalpe, of the Provineial Police, secured a slender clue and made the trip to the Uni- ted States town. He arrested the youth last Monday and the latter consented to cross the border with- out the formalities of extradition proceedings. In his confessiog the young man said he had been drinking with Du- pont for several days previous to the erime.
