Recently combined police and fire rescue squads tugged and jerk- ed in an effort to pull Johnny's foot from a subway turnstile while he dreamed peacefully of base- ball and hundreds of mid-afternoon shoppers admired Johnny's ability. Johnny was asleep when the subway stopped at the Adam's St. station and only opened one eye when his mother dragged him to the platform. He started to walk through the turnstile and one drowsy foot caught between the bottom rung and a npiecee of galvanized iron raised about two inches from the concrete. His mother pulled but he stuck fast. His father aided but nothing came loose. When rescue squads arrived, Johnny was fast asleep and he slumbered on while they tried to rescue him. They sawed and ham- mered and finally they released him. He was still asleep when a physician treated his lacerated foot. Even his ride home in a taxi failed to arouse him. ---------- ------ RECOVER BODIES FROM U.3. Some months ago Mr. Justice Curran refused a similar injune- tion presented on behalf of Ross Justice Curran held that the agree- ment was properly and legally made, and that the men were hound by the conclusions reached by the committee which acted for then when the agreement was drawn up, Ross is now appealing this decision. The railway argues that the In- junction having been dissolved by Mr. Justice Curran, it is free to enforce the Montreal agreement. It is expected that the agreement will come into force on May 1 of this year. | BALKAN FRONTIER.
