Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Pascue, Brooklin, visited at Mr. George Ormiston's. Mr. Albert Niddery, Ottawa, is visiting at Mr. John Hepburn's. Messrs. John and Will Alexander, Oshawa visited at Mr. Lesli- Pas- coe's. Mr. Frank Gilbert days in Toronto. A very enjoyable social evening was spent by those present one evening last week when over twen- ty-five members of the Ladies' Aid and their husbands attended the an- nual At Home of the Ladies Aid, held at the home of Mrs. L. C. Pas- coe, * At six-thiry the gathering sat down to well laden tables wnih gave good evidence of the cooking ability of the ladies of this neigh- borhood When the good wives nad finally convinced their mates that they really hadn't brought all the grub from home with them, ana that there would likely be some left over anyhow, the men, (who, by this time resembled Santa Claus), were finally persuaded to "Take no thought for the morrow" for after many prods and pushes they were escorted to an adjoining room where a ver yinteresting program was presented by seemingly talent- ed actresses. The program was di- vided into three groups. The first group was a hospital scene where a very delicate operation was per- formed and which took second place on the prize list. The second group was a tour in an old "Henry" who seemed to be going somewhere but never got there, and which came third on the list, and the last group which took the first prize was a screen was lifted it disclosed gyp- scree nwas lifted it disclosed gyp- sies seated around a campfire, sing- ing. After singing, dancing, and telling fortunes the gypsies rolled themselves in blankets and dropped off in slumber to the great applause of the aporeciative audience. This most brilliant of all gocgial func- tions was considered a decided suc- cess. Miss Hattie Osborne told us ue meaning of Chapter 4, and Mr. W. R. Courtice answered questions in the discussion on the first four chapters which had heen taken. After the groups met and enjoyed a game and the meeting closed. NORTH OSHAWA North Oshawa, Nov. T7.--Mrs. Wm. Blight has gone to Toronto to be with her sister, Mrs. Mason, who is quite ill Miss Jennie Walker and Master Bruce Walker, Kenneth avenue Oshawa, spent the week end with her sister, Mrs. Bruce Glover. Mr. and Mrs. Lyons, Harmony, visited Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fice for the holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Cregeen, of Toron- to, spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. A. McPhail Mr. Low Ostle, engineer, from the north west, visited friends ana relatives here and in Oshawa for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. J. McIntosh, WMr. und Mrs. Gordon McIntosh, Miss McIntosh and Mr. Homan, all of Toronto, with Mr. and Mrs. Thos. deeply with them in tke loss of a Mrs. Wilbert Ferguson, who passed into rest at her home last Satur- day evening. The deceased wuo had been suffering in ill health for some time, was well respected, and a well loved woman among her large circle of friends, and it was with great regret that her many friends heard of her departure from this world. The funeral was attended by a large number of friends and showed the high esteem in which she was held by those who knew her. There were many heau- tiful sprays and wreaths. Inter- ment was made in Hampton ceme- tery. Those who are left to mourn her loss are, her hushand, son, Lloyd, daughter, Elva, her mother, Mrs. J. Bradley, of Haydon, three brotherd, Messrs. Elmer and Leo- nard Bradley, of Haydon and Mr. Herb Bradley, Enniskillen, and one sister, Mrs. J. S. Greenwood, of Bridgeport, Conn. There was no service here last Sunday on account of special ser- vices which were held at Ennisk:i- len. There will be special Thank Offering services here on Sunday, November 20th. Rev. Clugston, or Columbus, will have charge of the services in the afternoon and even- ing. Columbus choir will render the music. COURTICE Courtice, Nov. 11.--Mr. 8S. S. Brooks is away for a week deer hunting. Mr. and Mrs. Blake Courtice, Miss Florence, and Mr. and Mrs. l.eo Courtice, spent Thursday at ihe home of Reeve and Mrs. Wignt, I'rovidence, where they celebrateo their sixteenth wedding anniversary. The monthly Women's Miss:onuary meeting in charge of Mrs. Ross Pearce"s group, was held at the 3. school réom on Thursday after- noon. The C.G.I.T. girls took charge of the devotional period with Mrs. Kenneth Courtice presiding. Miss Hazel Rundle gave the Bible lesson in a very inte:asting manner, and Miss Francis IT ancock told a story in a pleasing way. This is the swe- ond time Miss Francis has told a story publicly now, and shé seems to have a gift for this kind of thin, siving it a great deal of expression throughout the story, which makes it pleasant to listen to. The presi- dent, Mrs. F. W. Rundle, then took chare and a fine program was pre- sented. Piano duets by Mrs. Dud- ley and Mrs. Cole, of Bowmanville, was splendidly rendered. Our pas- tor, Rev. H. J. Stainton then gave a very fine address on India tell- ing about the people there, and their worship, and as Mr. Stainton has been to India he was able to tell what he had seen and heard. Mrs. Dudley then sang a beautiful solo in her rich voice, which every one enjoyed. Afterwards lunch was served and a good time spent together. Thuraday evening the Young People's meeting was fine, as usu- al. It was in charge of Miss Aura Ogborne and the Young People's group: Solos were nicely played Hy Mrs. Miller. The Bible lesson was dealt with very nicely by Miss Selby and the topic, "Trinidad, go- ing to school and to church" was taken up in a most interesting way by Mr. Alan MecKessock, of Solina.
