T0 CONTINUE K.P. CARNIVAL THREE DAYS NEXT WEEK Guessing for Pontiac Coach Closes Tomight at Midnight HUGE CROWDS ATTEND Winner of the Car Will Be Announced from the Stge Wednesday Night Announcement was made last night that the Bazaar under the auspices of the local lodge of the Knights of Pythias is being con- ducted on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, This ex- tension of the Carnival is possible through the gracious permission of Mayor Preston and the purpose of disposing of some three thousand dollars worth of merchandise which the organization finds still on its hands, in spite of the fact that all of the concessions have been well = {uareanized and thousands of dollars worth of merchandise has aiready been given away, Guessing on. the Pontiac Coach closes at midnight on Saturday, and the winner will be announced and presented with the ear from the stage at the Carnival on Wednesday evening. Those who "have already purchased their admission tickets will be admitted on presenting them next week, while others will be charged a fee of tem cents for ad- mission to the old West End Rink the first three nights of the ween, The original order of tem thousand tickets for guessing on the car was found quite inadequate, so a fur- «her order of three thousand uck- ets was placed. This means that there will be a total of from thiry to thirty-five thousand guesses on the car by Saturday night, That means--well, the committee namea to count those beans and decide tne winner of the car, are beginning to figure out just what it does mean-- plenty of work for them, Since' guessing on the car closes Saturday night, the Carnival Com- mittee have decided to give away two diamond rings each of the threq nights next week, and they will be even bigger stones than the ones viven away this week. A slightly dif- ferent arrangement of deciding ne winner will be used now, however, as only those who pay the ten cents cash admission fee will have a chance at the diamond. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22, 1927 winner of the ring last night was Harold Jackson, 102 Louisa street, It was also announced last night that during the Carnival next week chickens and turkeys will be given away as orizes dn honor of the coming Thanksglving season. While Titchiner Smith and his group of dancing girls will not be presented next week, arrangements are being completed to have a good bill of entertainment that will keep up the standard. Vaudeville uues are being secured for this program, and local talent will be on hand to assist in providing a good enmter- tainment each evening. The four lit- tle girls who provided the two pro- grams last evening were well re- ceived and showed considerable a- bility in both artistic and acrobatis dancing. The programs provided this week have had a spenldid va- riety, the acts being changed ror every performance, The merry-go- round and all of the concessions arg remaining at the Carnival next week, The citizens have responded well to the Knights of Pythias Bazaar this week, realizing that the pro- ceeds are to be used for charitable purposes and that it is well worthy of their support. Not only are they contributing aid to the needy, but when they visit the Carnival they get the worth of their money in en- joyment, MRS. SNYDER TO ENTER APPEAL Says the Joint Murder Trial Prejudicial to Her Interest New York, Oct, 21.--Joseph Lo- narde, counsel for Mrs, Ruth Snyder, said today the appeal from the jury's verdict of first degree murder will be filed with the Court of Appeals in Albany on Monday, and that among the precedents he will cite is that of the first clase recorded in 2nglish common law of more than one person being tried on a murder charge. This was in the year 1682. The appeal will be based to a large extent on the contention that the joint trial of Mrs. Snyder and Henry Judd Gray was improper and was prejudicial to Mrs, Snyder's inter- est. The couple were convicted of hay killed Mrs. Snyder's husband, Albert Snyder, in Queen's Village, March 20, The case in 1682 was tried at Old Bailey, London. Thomas Thynn, a wealthy London resident, married one Lady Ogle, who repented her marriage and fled to Holland, where she met Charles John, Count of Coningsmark, Sweden, to whom she appealed for help. The count was alleged to have employed three men. Christopher Bratz, George Borosky and Charles Stern, All four were tried, The count was freed, but the three murderers were hanged from a tree at the scene of the murder, as was the custom. Lonardo said he will contend that the confession of Gray implicating Mrs, Snyder should not have heen read to the jury. Supreme Court Justice Scudder had, at the time, directed the jury to disregard those parts of Gray's confession which concerned Mrs. Snyder, ruling that it was the testimony of an admitted accomplice, C'omamon Flop One cup granulated sugar and 1 tablesphoon of butter, cream to- gether; hten add 1 cup of milk; put 2 teaspoons haking powder into 2 cups flour, sift and add to batter.
