Beatty, | THE, OSHAWA DAILY REBORMER, THURSDAY. DECEMBER 30, 1926 A ; 4 PAGE: SEVEN y------ MARESRERLY TO HIS OPPONENTS! "Denies Report That Manufac- turers Are Responsible for His Candidature Editor, The Reformer. | Dear Sir: A couple of anonymous communi- cations have appeared in your col- umns relative to myself and the municipal elections. I have no thought of replying to them as they answer themselves, but there is an- other item or two that I would like to touch upon. Some people have funny ideas of conducting an elec- tion eampaiga; if they can slander, back-bite or misrepresent the other fellow they are happy. A report is being circulated in tuarters where it is expected to be he most effective, that the manu- 'acturers of the city are responsible 'or my candidature in this contest. i 1 wish to say that such a state- ment is utterly untrue and has not ~ven the faintest shadow for a 'oundation. People should -be very slow in accepting stories that are ! whispered about during the last hours in any campaign. Such state- ments are usually false and those who eirciilate them know it. The nomination or other public latform is the place to make all statements bearing oa the case, and the electors should not be influenced ! by any others. Let us use only fair British methods in all business, whe- ther it be elections or otherwise. I might answer the question "Who may vote on_ Monday?" All men and their wives who are class- ed as "owners" in the voter's lists; all men and their wives who are tennants and all those persons who | are assessed for iacome are entitled to vote on Monday. The 1926 Voters' List is complete and if your name is in that list you are entitled to vote. Your name may be on the list in two or more wards, this entitles you to vote in each of these wards for aldermen but you can only vote once for the Extra values in men's clothing at C. W. You may vote for only onc of them if you desire. Thanking you, Mr. Editor, for the courtesy of your columns and wishing you and your readers a very Happy and Prosperous New Year, I am . y Yours truly, 0. M. ALGER. Oshawa, Dec. 30, 1926.
