YOUNG 4% 1926 Expected To Be - Banner Year In History Of South Ontario Fair Everything is set for the ovening of the South Ontario Fall Fair which opens in Oshawa, Thursday, September 16, at Alex- andra Park. All signs point to the biggest and best Exhibition in the history of the Association, when all records will go by the board, and the attendance will roll up a record for all the years the big fair has been in progress. Last year a total of 13,000 attended the fair during the three days. This year it is esti- mated that this figure will be almost doubled. Not only has every department of the big fair been enlarged, and improved, but the fact that the fair comes at the end of the week instead of at the beginning, it is anticipated will draw huge crowds from Toronto and other neighbouring centres. Attractions will be of the first order. Grand stand attrac- tions will be presented each afternoon and Friday and Saturday evening of the fair. These are of a particularly high class. fire works program will excel that of any previous year and will be presented Friday and Saturday mights in front of the grand stand. Prize money offered for the races, and the various depart- ments exceeds the amount of any previous year by several thous- and dollars. Entries for all classes close Monday evening of next week, with the exception of the classes in horses in harness which remains open until Friday the 17th, at 10 am. Alexandra Park is one of the finest locations for an exhibi- tion of this kind to be found anywhere in Central Ontario. The managentent have taken pains to improve the appearance of the grounds. Trees have been planted, shrubs set out and flower beds placed about the grounds. The grass is kept nicely cut, and at this time of year the whole scene is a most attractive one in- deed. Oshawa's crack regimental band will be present every day of the fair. The Exhibition management in this connection believe in patronizing home industry, and home talent. Excellent Grandstand Performances On both Friday and Saturday afternoons, Sept. 17th and 18th, there will be free vaudeville acts in front of the grandstand. On the evening of Friday and Saturday, Sept. 17th and 18th, there will be performances in front of the grand stand, in addition to 2 wonderful displays of Fireworks. For the past few years the grandstand performance' of the Oshawa Fair has been of high order and this year attractions have been booked that will even surpass the entertainment and amusements provided in the past. A few of the many acts that will be featured are given below. The HARRINGTONS--The Wonder Acrobats. These people are unsurpassed in their particular line and have delighted thou- sands in the larger cities with their thrilling performances. They present 2 big acts. TICES COMEDY DOGS--Clever Dog Comedians. © Do not miss these Dog Acts as they are far superior to any animal act previously shown to our patrons. They are absolutely guaran- teed to please. Also 2 other Bing Single Aerial Acts. Ontario Regiment Band Will Play At both afternoon and evening performances, the Ontario Regiment Band will play. This snlendid musical organization is one of the best military bands in the Province and they will give a varied and interesting musical program. There will be many other vaudeville acts before the grand- stand and this year's performance is one that will amuse and in- terest everyone, . Two Big Night Shows On both Friday and Saturday evenings, Sept. 17th and 18th, as a climax to the evening Grandstand performances there will be brilliant displays of Fireworks. Oshawa Fair has always been noted for the excellence of its Fireworks display, and this year is no exception. There are 60 numbers in each -display, which will be big features of the Fair. Here are a few of the special numbers--Sunrise and Noonday Illuminations, Crystal Palisades, Dancing Man, Fir Trees and Whistling Birds, Trans- forming Star Wheel, The Silver Veil, Sun of the Golden West, Triple Crystal Fountains, King Tut's Royal Star, The Harvest of Gold, Canadian Maple Leaf and Royal Crown, Grand Final Mekee. Parade of Prize Animals The Directors are pleased to announce a Grand Parade of all prize winning animals in the horse and cattle classes in front of the Grand Stand on Saturday, September 18th, 1926, at 4 p.m. This parade will be handled in a manner similar to the great Scotch and English shows. All prize winning horses and cattle must enter this parade in order to be entitled to the prize money which is offered, and no prize money will be paid in full by the Secretary unless the winner is reported to the Secretary as hav- ing participated. in the parade. The entry ticket will also serve as a parade ticket and prize winners must present same to the Secretary or his assistant upon entering the parade. This rule will be strictly enforced. This is the big attraction of the last day of the Fair and a full Grand Stand will view it. See Rule 23. Trials of Speed A good list of Trials of Speed will be prepared for the second and third days of the Fair. Purses amounting to $1,300.00 will be offered for competition. A special program will be announced later. Good speeding attractions will be.-put on both days.
