It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts we announce that Leslie John Sayer, passed peacefully at Riverview Manor, Peter- borough, on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the age of 91, losing his fifth battle with cancer. Beloved husband of 69 years to Jean Sayer (nee Hogg). Loving and devoted Dad of Richard Sayer (Patricia) and Janine Kentish (Stephen). Much loved grandad of Sara Cooper (Jamie), Daniel Millette (Toni) and Richard Millette (Lynsey). Proud great-grandad of Caleb and Hunter. He will be sadly missed by his cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends in Canada, England and U.S., especially his long-time friends (adopted as family) Lesley and Don Pattison. Les had many hobbies and interests, shared with Jean, which he put his heart and soul into. He had a love for music, singing and soccer as a player, coach and referee. When he could no

longer participate, he contin- ued coaching the English Premier League (specifically Aston Villa) from his chair in front of the TV. Les has been building and flying free-flight and rubber model airplanes for many years. After moving to Canada, he became a member of SAM 86 (Society of Antique Modellers). He passed on his love of these planes to his Son and Grandsons. Les was also an avid bird watcher, and took lots of pride in his flower gardens. His specialty was roses. Les thoroughly enjoyed volunteering with the Butterfly Garden in Oshawa. Les' family would like to thank the staff and Dr. Berg at Riverview Manor for all their love, friendship and excellent care they have shown in the short time he resided with them. In keeping with Leslie's wishes, cremation has taken place. As requested by his grand- children, his Rearwin Speedster plane has joined him in cremation.

As Les would say, "Cheerio".

In memory of Leslie, donations to Durham Region Field Naturalists, Thickson's Wood Land Trust, Peterborough Regional Health Care Foundation or Lakeridge Health Oshawa Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated by the family.
