Margaret Mary "Eileen" Simmons (née Healey) passed away peacefully on April 16, 2021 at Hillsdale Estates, Oshawa in her 98th year. Born October 24, 1923 in Stoco, Ontario, Eileen was predecea- sed by her parents, Dennis and Myrtle Healey (née Killoran), her husband Thomas, sons Patrick and Matthew, and brother Gerald. Eileen, aka "St. Eileen" to her children, leaves behind her beloved daughters, Joanne Stycuk (Peter),

Margaret and Ellen Simmons.

She was the much-adored

"Nana" to Tim (Juli), Kathy

(Scott), Alison (Scott), Peter

Michael (Stephanie), Jonathan

(Samantha), Stefan (Catherine),

Mark and Luke and "Great

Nana" to Nataley, Mya,

Canyon, Faith, Ryerson,

Leighton, Holly, Charlotte and

Madelyn Eileen. She will be

missed by many nieces and

nephews and sister-in-law,

Mary Healey. After a life

devoted to family, Eileen

eventually found time for

things she enjoyed and which

kept her mind active. A

graduate of the secretarial

program at O'Neill Collegiate in

Oshawa, Eileen's interests

often focused on the written

word, which included her own

award-winning penmanship.

dictionary which honed her Scrabble skills. That gave way to word search books. More recently playing (and winning) bingo was a favourite pastime with her daughters. Eileen was a loyal friend, a cheerful and pleasant personality, until you got her 'Irish up'. Small in stature, she was a giant of generosity to all who crossed her path. The family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care provided by Hillsdale Estates - Strawberry Fields home area staff, especially Eileen's special angels. We salute your unsung work in our underfunded public long-term care system. A lifelong member of St. Gregory the Great parish, Eileen's dignity, deep faith and fidelity to family and friends are among the gifts she leaves us.

With heavy hearts we say a final "God Bless (GB) you, Mum".
