The greatest love a person can show is to die for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know what his master is doing. But I call you friends, because I have made known to you everything I heard from my Father. You did not choose me; I chose you. And I gave you this work; to go and produce fruit, fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you anything you ask for in my name. This is my command: LOVE EACH OTHER.” This may seem like an impossibility, but if you trust and believe, you will find yourself knowing His true joy. His love enables you to be understanding and kind. We learn to judge with our hearts rather than our minds. The faults we once saw now disappear. Impossibilities become possibilities. God’s promises become alive within our hearts. James 2:1, 14-19, 26,... “My dear brothers and sisters, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, never think some people are more important than others. If people say they have faith, but do nothing, their faith is worth nothing. Can faith like that save them? A brother or sister in Christ might need clothes or food. If you say to that person, “God be with you! I hope you stay warm and get plenty to eat,” but you do no give what that person needs, your words are worth nothing. In the same way, faith that is along - that does nothing - is dead. Just as a person’s body that does not have a spirit is dead, so faith that does nothing is dead!” Favoritism is sin. Allow the love of Jesus to shine from you. His love is unconditional and immeasurable. Phil 2:3-4... “When you do things, do not let selfishness or pride by your guide. Instead, by humble and give more honor to others than to yourselves. Do not be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of others.” Allow His Love to Radiate Through You. Investment Strategy: Focus on the Long Term_____________ Focus on the long term to weather stormy markets One of the fundamentals of successful long-term investing is monitoring the progress of your portfolio regularly to make sure it stays on track. Sometimes, however, focusing too closely on the wrong things can prompt overreactions to current market conditions. And this type of short-term view can lead to decisions that have a negative impact on your longterm plan. For example, suppose there’s a sudden drop in the S&P/TSX Composite Index. The media often stress the negative side of the story and, if your portfolio contains Canadian equities or equity mutual funds, its value may go down as well. Does that mean your strategy is off track and you need to immediately adjust your holdings? Clearly, the answer is no. Emotional reactions to short-term events are likely to result in selling when the market is low â€" the exact opposite of what you should do. So how can you prevent your emotions from influencing your investment decisions? “The key is to keep perspective and focus on the long term,” said Michael Nitz branch manager, RBCNipigon. “When you have a plan in place, you can confidently remain committed to it, knowing that day-to-day market news is likely to have little impact on your longer-term objectives or on the investment strategy that’s designed to get you there.” Although equities will always fluctuate in value, they offer the best potential for higher returns over time. That’s why they play such an important role in a well-diversified portfolio. And despite daily fluctuations, over the long term, equity markets have historically always moved up.
