Despite the short notice all candidates were present except for Lawrence Larsen, running for a seat on council. Mr. Larsen was unavoidably absent due to work. Each council candidate was given three minutes to state his platform while each candidate for reeve was given five minutes. The citizens then asked a total of 15 questions in written form and signed with most questions directed to the slate of candidates as a whole. The questions included "Does the town restrictions on voting i.e.-no vote if taxes not paid-have the approval of the Municipal Board?;” (It does) "Views on the policing of the town;” (The OPP were given a vote of confidence) "How many council meetings have you attended in the past two years?;” (Most candidates had to say none) "Do you think Nipigon should increase its council by two more members?;” (Little comment) "What about the dogs tunning wild?;” (Hire a dog catcher or leash the dogs during the summer anyway) "What about lack of present speed limit on Nipigon streets?;” (Agreed this should be corrected, set at either 30 or as most said 20 m.p.h., lower in school areas) "What about beautifying Nipigon?;” (Most thought it was beautiful enough although there could be improvements by educating people about littering) Chairman for the meeting was Roe Skillen. Chamber president Don Cochrane and vice-president Bruce Ward helped handle the question and answer period.
