The Schreiber Curling club held its annual wind-up Banquet in St. Andrew's United Church Hall, Saturday, with the ladies of the Women's Association. Guests and members were welcomed by president Gino Caccamo. Among the guests were Rooney Osling, president of the Terrace Bay Curling club and Mrs. Osling, Vic Everitt, CPR Divisional Superintendent and Mrs. Everitt, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Gray, the latter president of the Ladies Curling Club. Mr. Caccamo thanked the members who helped make the Club's first Invitational Bonspiel such a success. Special thanks went to the Ladies Club and the Terrace Bay Club for their assistance, and to Mr. Burton Phillips in his efforts in preparing the ice at such an early date. He also thanked Jack Handel for the signs and posters, and Wally Simons and A. Slater for their judging at the Bonspiel. Mr. Caccamo was praised and thanked, by Ed Coby, for his efforts in pushing the club ahead, especially his efforts in arranging the Invitational Bonspiel. The presentation of trophies were as follows: SPORTSMAN TROPHY: won during the mixed Bonspiel by Dr. J.M. Cornell's rink was received by Mrs. Cornell in the absence of Dr. Cornell. COSTA TROPHY: presented Tony Costa - won by John Slobodian's rink, accepted by Mr. Bob Turner and Mrs. Turner. CACCAMO TROPHY: presented by Ed Coby to Gino Caccamo rink. RUNNER UP SPORTSMAN EVENT: Edgar Leblanc's rink; Runner up, Costa Event: Ed Holmes rink; Runner up - Caccamo Event: Ed Coby rink. A special trophy was presented to Tom Bolan, only life member Gino Caccamo. Winners in the Men's League BORDEN'S TROPHY: Ed Coby's rink; RILEY TROPHY: Jos Eusebifs rink; THOMPSON TROPHY: Gino Caccamo rink. Winners in the Ladies League trophies presented by Mrs. Nellie Gray. SEAGRAM'S TROPHY: Mrs. Freda Duggan's Rink; SPADONI'S TROPHY: Mrs. Frankie Caccamo's Rink; Beardmore Moose Hold Initiation Ceremonies The regular meeting of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 1366, Beardmore was held in the Legion Clubroom Thursday. Prior to the meeting proper, the lodge held its first initiation ceremony, conducted by the recently organized Ritual Team of the Lodge, with F. Motyl as chairman. New members initiated were J. Trottier and Wm. Frazer. In appreciation of his outstanding contribution to the welfare of the lodge, Morris Caddell received an engraved lighter, presented on behalf of the members by Governor L. McKechnie. Two Beardmore members, M. Caddell and R. Savo are now members of the "25 Club" of the Loyal Order of Moose. Certificates were awarded to both in recognition of their untiring service and effort in the building of the order. Entertainment chairman, J. Willychuk announced that a cribbage tournament for members was planned for the near future, in conjunction with a stag evening date to be announced. He also announced that plans for a social to be held in the curling club March 6 were complete. New members will be initiated at 6.30 p.m. followed by the social at 8 for members and their guests. R. Savo was appointed chairman of a committee to investigate the possibility of operating a booth for the lodge in the Lake Nipigon Fish Derby in June. F. Motyl, chairman of Sports Committee, was requested to find out if other Moose Lodges in the district would be interested in inter-lodge ball games this summer. Attention! Out-of-Town Customers!
