GENERAL INTEREST -- 1930 Newmarket Art Club Organized 1930 The Newmarket Art Club was organized in 1930 with five charter members, namely, Mr. Ross Hugo, Mr. William Hopkinson, Mr. Robert Chadwick, Mrs. Jack King and Mrs. Doris Gibney . The first exhibition of the group was held in Patterson's Drug Store on Main Strcet in November of 1930. The N.A.C. exhibited in Patterson's for about three years then in Victoria Sweets for two years and thon to the Newmarket Town Hall. "THE METROPOLITAN" The electric cars that ran from 'Toronto to Aurora, Newmarket and Sutton with a branch line running north westerly from Schomberg junction, now Oak Ridgoes,to Schomberg. Cars ran every hour, four trips daily. The afternoon freight brought goods from the city warehouses to supply the stores and shops in town. The motormen were friendly servants, thoey knew almost cecveryone and would stop anywhere to pick up or dispatch passengers. The Metropolitan was convenicent. It was safe and comfortable and from August 1899 to March 15, 1930 it served as a useful and popular means of transportation. THE OFFICE SPECIALTY MANUFACTURING _ COMPANY LIMITED The company had the most successful year in its forty--one years history. The confidence that has been shown us by many thousands of customers throughout Canada and other countries within the British Empire has been as greatly appreciated and respected as the appreciation we have often expressed to the members of our home office, factory and branch staffs, more than 1000 people.
