' Newmarket High School won the Challenge Trophy this yearwithatotalofaopointsto Huron Heights Secondary s 26 points. The Challenge Trophy contest consisted of three separate events and the trophy went to the school with the highest total. Huron Heights won the tug of war, and there was no score in any of the broomball games, then Newmarket High won the chariot race, making it a tie with both schools imaging 10 points. Organizers 0 e car- nival then called a tie breaker chariot race and Newmarket High won that, picking up the trophy. The trophy was donated by the Newmarket Kinsmen. Huron Heights was awarded a consolation trophy, also donated by the Kinsmen. St. Paul's school won the trophy in Class 1 of the poster competition which included Kindergarten classes from area schools. Class 2, included Grades 1-2, was won by Brian Hess, a Grade 2 pupil at Meadowbrook school. Terry Thompson, Grade 4 at Stuart Scott, won the trophy for-Class 3 and Laurie McFarlane, a Grade 6 student at Stuart Scott was awarded the trophy inClass 4.
