passed at an emergency Christmas Eve council meeting organised by Councillors Bob Roth and George Timpson and called by a petition of seven councillors Despite her adamant support of the shutdown recommendation Mayor Evelyn Buck told her council she would back its request for deferral at todays meeting There will be no problem Although the region argues that demand is the central issue in its proposal to close the centre reports that the building falls to meet fire safety and public health regulations have added fuel to the controversy In his report to council today Social Services Com missioner Owen SUngerland states The present facility in public health standards If that statement is ac curate then the region Is operating a day care centre in violation of provincial legislation Dr Ray said At rate the region never has Aurora centre said he has discussed the report with several provincial day c officials who the situation They have received no reports from the region that state
