healthy situation for any busi ness but for a municipal government handling public funds it is particularly bad When York Region came into existence in January and Newmarket absorbed East Gwllllmbury Heights Ontario government offi cials were appointed to apportion those assets of the township which rightly belonged to the new citizens of Newmarket These were allotted to the town Some time later when Construc tion Co the Del firm building homes In the newlyannexed northeast section of the town applied for new building permits town officials discovered hat had been re quired by East Township to pay about in lot levy fees to the township inly weeks before the annexation took place tion and parks commissioner Dan Shannon point ed out in his report to the town recreation committee that park fund money held in a rust account for Park hasnt turned up I have learned that there is a fund for the EvansleighJeamiette Park that is still in some ones bank account Because this money justi fiably belongs to he Town of Newmarket 1 r to Newmarket recreation said the men is going through flics given it by auditors Hector Payne and Co regarding the operation of East parks indicating park fund it with whom he could share a trusted secret Nowadays however diarykeeping seems to have gone right out of style I suppose it Is because of the fast pace of modern living People think and do so many things In one day that they possibly record all of them keeping Is that modern man has a far greater knowledge of the law than did his Victorian counterpart This knowledge enables him to Hunter
