Study ban on snowmobiles in town parks but 71 council explores alternative sites Signs prohibiting snowmobiles in town parks but council must pass bylaw before they go up NEWMARKET Although no official action has been taken to ban mobiles from town parks pre parations are underway Signs have been painted and members of the 1971 town council have been exploring alternative sites for snowmobiling areas on the frin ges of town Snowmobiles were banned se veral weeks ago from school yards in York County The county school board has set a fine ranging from 10 to for violation of the bylaw The 71 council steering com mittee members indicated recently they dont want to ban snowmobiles from town parks until they can pro vide an alternative site for them The councillorselect decided to ex plore the possibility of opening the farm on St now in the hands of a land developer and the York County farm on the oppo site side of for the sport Snowmobiles were banned sev eral weeks ago from the Wesley Brooks Conservation Area by the Holland Vallev Conservation Autho rity Resources Manager Derek Ster said the Authority felt snowmobil is not compatible with the other uses of the park night Dead is John 24 of Centre St Aurora Police said the tractortrailer was turning out of a service station just north of Federal Farms when the car struck it broadside Mr was killed instantly The tractortrailer was driven by James Antler 37 of Park Mr dog was guard ing its master when police arrived Humane society officials took the dog to their headquarters in Aurora but the dog escaped as it
