Wed September Church facelift finished for anniversary service BY REV ROBERT J McN AUGHT SHARON The centuryold sanctuary of the SharonHope United Church here underwent its first major facelift this year and it was completed just in time for the congregations anni versary service this Sunday Special dedication services were held Sunday Sept to mark completion of the work Fresh paint walltowall carpet- ting new colored glass in the windows and an altered choir loft presented a different look to the room which had seen little change in almost a hundred years of use With the purpose in mind of lending versatility and action to the place of worship chairs which would be used in a variety of settings replace the timehonored pews and a new service platform was constructed which could be located in various positions in the sanctuary The vestibule was tiled and a newly built notice board was Installed at the doorway to the church The building dates back about a century when it was erected as a centre of worship for a Methodist con gregation Ministers who have served this congregation have sometimes lived in the village of Sharon sometimes in Holland Landing and for the past
