The Era NewmarketAm Wed December Newmarket Childrens Theatre is producing a Christ mas Presentation on Sunday December at the Town Hall at pm There will be a charge of cents per per son and the proceeds will be used to pay the royalties props and costuming for a major production later on in the new year The Christmas concert will be a variety type presenta tion with over 30 of the child ren involved in some capa city- They will present a one act play Waiting for Santa a pantomime Gretels Christ mas recitations songs and a pianist The stage will be decorat ed by the children They plan to make it a living room scene with a decorated Christ- mast tree The Childrens Theatre group have chosen the play Little Moon for their maj or production and it will be produced in the Chinese man ner COWARD COMEDY Hayfever the Aurora Drama Workshop presenta tion December and at the St Andrews College was directed by Craig Kamcke Noel Cowards comedy was well directed by Mr Kamcke and he makes this family much more likable than Co ward ever intended However he handles the quips wit ticisms and epigrams so lightly and crisply that much of the success of this play must go to the director The chatter and cross fire was thoroughly enjoyed by Satur day nights audience Mr Kamcke must also be congratulated for giving an excellent portrayal of the sappy Sandy Ted Reeve appeared as Sandy Friday evening but was stricken with pneumonia on the Sat urday night and was ordered to bed by the doctor Mr stepped into the role with excellent results Rose Dyson as Judith was excellent rattling off her lines intelligibly and crisply- and Graham Con- were the two insuf ferably smart alec children and played the part well Shiner as David the writer of junky novels was an adept and well controlled performance The diplomat ist the Cowardian presenta tion for diplomat was welt portrayed by Brian Bowyer Jean Shiner played the com ic cockney maid and settled neatly into the role Janet Kudelka as Jackie is a newcomer to but not a newcomer to acting having won an award at Au rora High School as Best Actress Janet should make a valuable addition to the Her Jackie was as urtain Time RUBY L HASKETT fatuous a performance as the role calls for Alison Roberts as Myra helped keep things gay and engaging Trie set design by Glover was very good Stage managers Ted and Glover were excellent Wardrobe by Lesley Stewart lighting by Ron McGowan and Jules Besseling and sound by Tony Dawson and Fred were well done Props were by Joan and Barbara McGowan and the prompter was Vieki Krochter Producer for the play was Joyce Stewart and she did a fine job NATIVITY PLAY St Pauls Anglican Chureh Newmarket is presenting a Nativity Play in the Parish Hall Sunday December at pm and Monday Decem ber 18 at pm The public is welcome Anyone wishing to attend is asked to call the office for tickets at 8954062 There is no charge Tickets are being used to prevent overcrowing the Parish Hall Fifty Pasolini to be pre sented Jan 7 A Man and a Woman a film which is the winner of many awards and starring Ac cident is the last one for Jan starring Dirk Bogarde and directed by Joseph Losey Proceeds from the Film Festival go towards operat ing costs for the Shaw Festival Season Brian Doherty Festival founder has announced the formation of a Winter Thea tre Study Group They will meet each week at
