V CM Wed a ct To Apartments In Craddock Farm Area AURORA Residents living near the Craddock Farm area at the north end of the town are objecting to a proposal to erect an apartment building in their area At the council meeting on Monday a peti tion was presented by fltyd Harris a Farm area resident of 20 years stand ing calling for the rejection of such plans as may exist for an apartment building and of fices in the area The petition was signed by all residents of St and Mark St with the excep tion of one household not visited by Mr Har- riis in his quest for support The residents objected to proposed devel opments on the grounds that the property has been designated a green belt for years and furthermore has been declared floodland a deadend road to an apartment build ing would lead to further traffic congestion on St the property has been designated resi dential and not commercial the proximity of an apartment build ing would ruin their privacy Council learned from Mr Harris that he had sent letters of protest to the of Highways the Ontario Municipal Board and the Conservation Branch of the Ontario Department of Energy and Re sources the letters he claimed the scheme Infringed various statutes within the au thority of these bodies He suggested that it would be a boon to the town if the property was purchased by Hangs In Cells AURORA A 52yearold Aurora man arrested Friday night on an impaired driving charge was found dead several hours later in the town police cells is believed the man hanged himself Cheif Constable William said the man was observed apparently asleep on cot 10 minutes before he was found dead The man was arrested by Constable Ted McCIenny at pm following a minor cident west of St He was charged than placed in the jails only cell Students Set Records At AURORA There were students graduating with hon ors among the Secondary School Graduation Diplomas presented at the annual Com mencement Exercises held at Dr G Williams Secondary School on Friday evening Over per cent of the stu dents passed in Grades and Scholarships awards and amounted to about Five students gained Uni versity Entrance Scholarships on the basis of high average throughout the year The Ontario Scholar was Bishop who also gave Valedictory Address Awarded University Entrance Scholarships were Nora Beck er Sally Case Karen ard Richard Miller and Dixon Fifty one awards were made to students who attained an average of eighty per cent or over on the years work Head Boy Stephen Sedore and Head seven School Letters for all- around achievement and par ticipation in school activties The Award for the best all round athlete went to John Campbell Principal A H Miller also made mention of the team acheivements Boys Senior Basketball In the finals aU three soccer teams won the Georgian Bay Championships the Intermediate Football team tied for first place and the Juniors placed second The school also won the an nual interschool Track and Meet
