chairman of King Township Public School Board and a trustee resigned Monday night and the vicechair man announced he would not stand for re election following a hectic public meeting of the board regarding debenture funds for school additions in the township Board chairman Geoffrey and Mrs Patterson tendered their resig nations and vicechairman Jennings said he would not stand for office again The contentious resolution of Township Council of Oct 23 said in part that council would be prepared to issue debentures for public school additions up to but only where partial facilities were already available such as land sanitary systems etc and also only where the need is greatest At the conclusion of the resolution coun cil said that they would condone no major expense on proposed additions to King City Senior Public School at the present time The original request of the School Board had been for over and this had been turned down by council A second request was then made by the Board for which council in its Oct 23 resolution pared to Mr said This is a black day for Ihe public school administration In this township and the dictatorial attitude of Township Council to board regarding the allocation of school Is both unethical and unacceptable by the actions of Coun cillors and Flinders they have shown that they are pretentious pre sumptuous politicians of the worst sort Reeve Gordon Cook and DeputyReeve must be commended for their ac tion in moving the resolution of Oct poinling out to council that insufficient thought had been given to the resolution of Oct in that conditions set out at that time were not under the jurisdiction of Township Council Councillors and Flin ders had voted to defeat the resolution of the Reeve and had thereby killed any hopes of rescinding dictatorial resolution of Oct 23 Later in he meeting the agreed to a resolution to again request rescinding of the Oct resolution and to seek legal ad vice on the validity of the council decision Both Mr and Mrs Patterson told other members of the Board that their position would only become tenable again with councils rescinding of the resolution and subject to the attitude of the Ratepayers in the Township of East Gwillimbury wilt be asked to vote on November on the question of installing artificial ice in the present arena at vilte East Township Council is due for an election
