a Tfce Eta Wei J I REV NORMAN E Tabernacle Summer is drawing to a close I enjoyed The Eras cartoon of a mother with beaming face sitting at the breakfast table Her two sons asked why she was so happy The answer was found on the calendar behind her dated September the day that boys and girls headed back to school The other evening as I transported some young people to a corn roast I noticed that they talked about which school they were attending the subjects they were studying and the activities of their friends It appeared that they were delighted and glad to be back with teachers friends and the three reading riting and Of course this might only have been on the surface However in this day of technological advance stu dents realize that they must become well educated Thus for various reasons and pressures they have returned to schools colleges and universities There is another school getting into full swing for the Fall and Winter months namely Church School or better known as Sunday School Numbers of students have been unable to attend during the holiday period because they have been away at Expo the cottage out of town or maybe their Sunday School has been closed Parents now set their alarms to make sure that every child has a good breakfast and are properly dressed and ready to be off to school on time How ever it is amazing how on Sunday morning they feel too tired to rise and get their children ready for Sunday School They reason that Sunday is a day of rest and thus they are going to make the best of it However they tend to forget that their children need spiritual guidance as well as instruc tion for the mind Solomon declared The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge but fools despite wisdom and instruction Proverbs 17 The Psalmist said the same truth The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom a good under standing have all they that do his commandments his praise forever Psalm It is how amazing this phase of education is overlooked or get aside as not being Important However this generation with the finest schools and teachers is producing young people that are drifting away from the moral and religious stand ards that have helped to make our nation great They may not have dropped out of school but they are dropping out of society and failing to help meet the challenges of the twentieth century As a motto reads Are you here with the solution or are you part of the problem It is still true today The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom Men may invent hydrogen bombs in their scientific labora tories but they become exceedingly dangerous when men fail to fear the Lord or consider their fellow- man The New Testament informs us that the child Jesus grew and waxed strong in spirit filled with wisdom and the grace of God was upon Him Luke 210 Christ grew not only physically but also In spirit and was filled with wisdom As parents are we lopsided in the training of our children VVe make sure that they have the finest food in order that their young Imrlies may develop and be strong and healthy We make sure that they report to school every day to learn their secular subjects Yet somehow we fail when it cornea to their spiritual welfare We are too busy to teach them the Bible stories or listen to their prayers at bedtime We are too to see that they are up in time for Sunday School It is surprising how many children get up themselves and with or without breakfast find their way to the House of God This Sunday make sure that your children attend the Sunday School and the church of your choice Better still dont send them but take them with you Your example will inspire them It Is still true like father like son and like mother like daughter Induct New Minister i I KING CITY The Rev Norman
