rJ v Tie Era Newmarket Resident Objects To TV Transmitter i Oat Wed 13 Cootinotd From Page My experience in the New market area miles from the present lower power Chan- 3 transmitter is that the inexpensive traps on the mar ket today cause a great deal of inconvenience in opera tion and are not particularly efficient In the Newmarket area many people have installed special antenna equipment rather than depend on the trap system In some cases more expensive TV sets were purchased to obtain normal operation The extra cost to these people could run up to Since Channel 3 came on the air I would estimate that in the town of Newmarket pop TV owners have to reduce Channel 3 interference is another aspect to this controversy that does not seem to have been brought to public attention Channel 2 will interfere with Channel 3 reception In order to receive a clear image from Channel 3 another trap may be necessary or a special antenna installed In consideration of the above facts based on proven exper ience in the Newmarket area Channel 3s proposed change of transmitter site plus power boost Is technically ridiculous Report By Al Wall- Agricultural Representative for York County With lots of wheat to lie seeded soon a few- points on getting high yields are timely The stand ard variety is Genesee with Talbot a good one too if lodging is common Early seeding promotes a thicker stand and winter survival Its a good idea to treat seed with an insecticide to stop and other soil insects They are most likely to be bad in fields broken from sod Wheat can use high rates of nitrogen profitably The only catch is that most of it should go on early in the spring At seeding around pounds of actual nitrogen is enough for good fall growth Where a lot of straw is being plowed flown extra nitrogen is needed to rot it quickly About pounds of Ammonium Nitrate will do this job well Anyone making improvements on farms this fall should apply for capital grants available from the Ontario Department of Agriculture and Food Half the cost up to is available for new wells or farm ponds There is a grant on field enlargement and grants off onethird of the cost on new buildings remodelling of buildings paving yards new storages or land drainage There is sure to he a lot of interest in drainage after this growing season One of the difficulties will be in getting a machine to put in tile Tile men have a lot of work booked ahead so that orders should go In now even for work next year Details and applications for capital grants as well as assistance on tile drainage are available from our office at Newmarket According to some of our visitors the most difficult job will be find ing our office We havent got our signs up yet but anyway we have moved from St and are now in the Newmarket Plaza on the second floor at the west end in what was formerly the auditorium Our phone number has been changed too It is now 8951519 OPINIONS ARE YOU WAITING FOR A 1968 MODEL Changes and In the auto market due to impending labor tumble this Autumn have caused auto manufacturers to reschedule plans for next years models The changes could If eel you If you have been waiting for a new car this Fall Anticipating labor trouble with the unions In negotiations now manufacturers decided commence production of new models sooner originally planned To do they back production on 1967 models The result Is that this Autumn will he very few if any models left over from this years pro duction runs And while the schedule colls for earlier Introduction of models the realities of production could well mean that DELIVERIES will be a month or two late they do arrive the will he priced higher at least from to according to pre dictions Safely and features plus Increased coals are the cause All o these Influences make a model or a good used cor now wise decision If you ore In need of reliable transportation replace your car the sake of your warranty satisfaction If you buy a new car and jusl plain peace of on a used model pick a dealer with reputation for Integrity and good service Hie car will cost you no more possibly less initially ami certainly in the long run and the satisfaction of ownership you receive from your car being properly will be yours The proposal is also grossly unfair to Toronto TV owners I would like to offer some constructive suggestions re garding TV transmitting in Canada The Department of Trans port should establish a one location system for all TV transmitters within a definite broadcasting area This would locate the transmitters in a most efficient location in re gard to altitude etc best possible coverage could then be maintained This unification could serve aU stations in the area on one tower or various towers could be grouped together Your Department might even con sider maintaining these tow ers on a lease basis Viewers would also benefit from a single antenna orientation Viewers living in the imme diate vicinity of the transmit ter masts would receive all local stations but would ex perience difficulty receiving outside channels This could be overcome by installing a cable system serv ing these viewers only Avia tion hazards would also be re duced by unification It should be obvious that the single lo cation system would be the simplest and most efficient method of transmitting sever al signals in one area could include as well If this proposal could be put into effect in the near fu ture millions of dollars could be saved by eliminating the high unification cost of trans mitter towers which have been placed haphazardly The subject of trans mitting should be carefully considered at this time The The band covers Channels It would seem thai future TV broadcasting is bound to involve recep tion It is more economical for a tuner to be install ed at Die point manufac ture I would like to recomend that the installation of tuners In all Canadian made or imported TV receivers be mandatory Further an ac ceptable solution to Chan nel controversy might be the installation of a Channel satellite within Tor onto May I suggest no more TV licences be Issued until the above proposals have been given your serious considera tion Having spent a lifetime in the field of electronics both in the technical and sales field I feel that my opinion on this subject should have some validity In my opinion Up to fruit and vege table growers come into the terminal every weekday from as far away as ford Die Niagara Peninsula and Trenton to on the farmers market located in the northwest corner of Die Ontario Food Terminal They line up for the am opening of the terminal gates By the house full BRICES BARGAIN BARN the Channel 3 move would be a technical disaster From a public relations standpoint a TV station that incurs the resentment of a ma jority of its proposed viewers does not seem feasible Thank you for any consid eration you may give my let ter I would appreciate a re ply Yours truly
