Horse Show Photo by Shaw EG HEIGHTS Eighteen months of hard work and con centrated effort brought the realization of a dream on August as boys and girls and six chaperons boarded a bus at Maple Leaf School for a trip to Expo Prior to board ing the bus Mr J organizer of the trip was pre sented with a Centennial wall clock and the treasurer of the group Bonnie Coker was presented with a school ring Mrs Betty a for mer Heights resident arrang ed sleeping accommodation in the Mary Gardiner School and also the Home and School Association of the Mary Gar diner School prepared box lunches for the group every day On the arrival at teauguay Mrs had arranged a swimming session at a private pool followed by refreshments During the trip home a stop was made at locks on the St Lawrence Seaway so that they could watch a cargo ship from Norway and a Canadian oil tanker go through Record 362 Entries In Mount Albert Show MOUNT ALBERT The annual flower show sponsor ed by Mount Albert Horticul tural Society was a huge suc cess again this year Held in the Community Hall the Childrens Show held on Wednesday August had entries with Carolyn West- garth taking the honors for the best arrangement Pat Hockley was an honorable mention and Jane Kester had the best specimen The adult show on Thurs day evening had entries placed by exhibitors Mrs Jordan took prizes on entries followed by Miss Viola who won prizes on 22 entries Mrs Smalley and Angus Morton were awarded prizes on 21 ana 31 entries respectively Mrs Frank Jordan placed 27 entries Miss had the best arrangement and Mrs Ross Harrison the best specimen George Walsh the best glad Fine summer weather add ed greatly to the success of the Community Club Amateur Competition and Corn Roast on Wednesday evening Au gust Entries in the amateur con test were small in number possibly due to vacations and lack of practice Betty Anne Peagam was the competition winner for her contribution on her piano accordion All others who competed were presented with silver dollars Tennis matches ball games bingo plus an excellent dem onstration of fire fighting by the Mount Albert Firemen and all the corn one could eat added up to a wonderful evening The attendance was good with total proceeds being and net proceeds which will be used for new chairs for the Community Hall The Draw for Centennial dollars was won by Ronnie Dike Mort McQuillan selling the lucky ticket and getting for his effort The draw proceeds were netting The United Church Congre gational Picnic at Sibbald Provincial Park on August IS was altended by some rep
