tured an unusually fine Art and Craft Show Artists Dorothy and William of Newmarket were the judges for art old photographs and crafts reported the entries as one of the best shows yet They were very impressed with the figurines of The Three Wise Men entered by Mary Lou Big Canoe Mrs Bud They felt her artistry should receive special mention and awarded her Best in the Show There were IS classes in oil paintings and other media Ten classes in photography and 10 classes in the crafts The Georgina Island School had a very interesting display of Indian artifacts and toys Over all loomed a life size figure done in paper sculp ture and painttu effectively The face and features of the clothing made from brown paper were excellent A large number of Indian rattles looked like a class project Mrs Bertha had an excellent display done in the form of the Centennial symbol This was arranged with potted plants and potted flowers in full colour Mrs Muriel General Convener of the Arena made an excellent guide Mrs Vanzant has just returned from a month of por trait sketching at La Hondo at Expo Her fellow artists were from France Estonia Brussels and the United States Kit Robinson was also there sketching on the Carou sel and Kit are now attheCNE Audrey Hazlett a former resident of Newmarket and member of the Art Club is having a display of her paint ings at the Continental Inn on Highway at for the months of October and No vember She will show abstracts landscapes relief sculpture and impressionistic paintings KLEINBERG CENTRE A magnificent panorama of Canada on canvas is on public display each weekend at the McMichael Conservation Col lection of Art Centre at Kletn- northwest of Toronto The collection comprises some paintings represent ing the works of 14 Canadian artists This includes Tom Thompson Emily and David Milne This collection is worth about a million dol lars and was amassed by Rob ert and Signe McMichael dur ing the past 2C years The Centre is open
