to select one particular star I dont believe that crafty Mouniie coach Joe Case would even attempt the job However even where the wisest of coaches fears to tread not so your Hash- man were going to call Craig Case the Mounties young pitch ing sensation the standout performer of the series Case came close to recording a nohitter Friday Except for Mike ORourkes dinky little Texas leaguer It would diamond Friday couid only see two veteran performers on the team That was those two great out fielders Elmer Paisley and Kelly Case The rest of the team with one or two exceptions have still to cast their first vote Lets give due credit to these young ball players who conquer ed a great Pine Orchard team The maskman was John He is probably the leagues youngest catcher Craig Case another youngster after first game went against him settled down to tame the Pine Orchard hitters in a way that many fans didnt think was possible Stationed around the infield posts from first to third were George Green the oldster of the infield Jim Cupples Paul Main- prize and Brian Stokes The other outfielder who saw most service Alongside veterans Kelly Case and Paisley was Nelson Case Five other youngsters must now be consid ered the Casey Stengel of the Lake league Joe had his young fry up for these final series games Seldom if ever has a pitcher received fin er fielding support A great deal of the credit for the Mount Albert triumph must go to Joe Case His knowledge of gained on the district diamonds over a score of years stood him and his players in good stead when it came to the tough sums it up When such renowned sluggers as Howie Ash Nobby Ash Bill Dike Doug Kves and failed to get their fair share of hits you can figure the opposition pitcher is pouring them in in classy style The final game Friday brought the largest attendance of the playoffs However this season the playoff take was away below that of previous years At least that is the way it looked to this observer The games were on a par with previous years but something seems to be keeping the fans away Wonder what it could be Last Season as Pine Orchard wended its way to a title the hit- tew couldnt fathom Doug
