one charge of possession of stolen goods when he appeared before Magi strate O S at New market last week The prelimin ary hearing lasted two days Ten additional charges of breaking entering and theft were withdrawn against McLennan as well as two charges laid under the Highway Traffic Act driving while disqualified and allowing an unlicensed person to drive Bail was set at 10000 McLennan was one of seven ar rested by officers of the Vandorf OPP detachment between Janu ary 3 and in an investigation of a series of breakins in cottages in the Musselmans Lake area Con ducting the investigation were Cpl Robert and John Three juveniles were convicted in Juvenile court Aurora for juv enile delinquency one pleading guilty to stealing more than from the home of Mr and Mrs Ivan McLaughlin 3 Stouff ville during November and Dec ember Similar charges were withdrawn against Daniel Mc- and Frances LaForge both of the Stouffville area Joseph Hall 16 also from Mus Lake was committed for trial by judge on Feb for break ing entering and theft of and some family jewelry from the McLaughlin home His bail was set at 10000 McLennan was committed for trial by judge and jury for the same offense which occured on Dec The remaining charges involved the thefts of household articles electrical appliances and miscellaneous items such as a rifle and sword from three sum mer cottages at Musselman Lake occurred in Dec- had not been aware of his tru ancy He said he spent much of his time at home where he with other juveniles had beer A statement made by McLenn an to Vandorf was ion way trying to get him for some trouble the youth had caused him at one time In court he testified that he had entered to cottages hunting for TVs on McLennans suggest ed as evidence In it McLennan admitted to of Whitchurch and the envel ope with the jewelry along the same road Hill and McLennan di vided the money equally the statement explained The pair went to Toronto the following day where McLennan
