sign there will be a record membership this season in the Newmarket club There was a good turnout of tennis enthusiasts at Mondays gathering A managing com mittee composed of Charles Lee Charles Cobb and Keith Davis was named to guide the club through the season Rodney West was named secretarytreas urer to complete the executive committee Additional names will be added to the committee as the tennis season gets into full swing Fees wore set at senior married couples 10 high school students and public school pupils 1 Club officers are now Bell Bowlers Banqueted Members of the Bell Telephone bowling fraternity and their friends strong tucked in their napkins and tore into turkey supper for the official close of their season at the Legion hall Friday Following the banquet the presentation of prizes and indi vidual awards won by the bowl ers were made After the din ner and prizegiving ceremonies the bowlers demonstrated their footwork on the dance floor to complete a large evening President and chairman Ken introduced Alex Hands who in turn presented his club championship trophy to Stan Evans captain of the win ning CrownAnchor team The members of the championship team along We were try ing for four teams for the Au rora town league and now we have five teams ready and raring to go reports Jack Robinson Aurora town league organizer A Kettleby team filed an en try early this week to bring the entry list to five teams Previ ously Lake Wilcox Remington- Hand Collis Leather and a town team headed by Harold Stephen son and Bob posted en tries A meeting to organize the league and draw up a schedule will be held this week League organizer Jack Robinson has hopes of locating a sixth team to make it easier on the schedule maker and received the Ted Rob inson trophy and Mrs Cordy also won the high triple prize The presentations were made by Ken and Don In the mens section the Roy Keffer trophy emblematic of high average went to Stan Evans as did the high triple award on the books in the in termediate competition the sen ior boys competitors established two new marks Two records were also toppled in the girls competition Watson fast develop ing into the districts top came up with a minute second mile and Barry Jones hurled the discus ft in to register new senior records Muriel Thompson in the pro cess of becoming junior girls champion added an inch to the existing standing broad jump mark with a leap of ft in Dana added approxi mately two feet to the interme diate baseball throw record with a toss of ft in Competition for the class championships was keen all the way down the line Track spe cialist Carl and field export Don Lewis claimed points each wind up in a tie for senior boys honors Dave collected Paul Don with two firsts and four seconds captured the inter mediate crown with 23 points Dave Jefferson second with points John had John Hopper piled up an im pressive total to walk off with junior honors Larry totalled points John eight Evans dominated the senior girls competition scoring four firsts in five events to harv est points while Edna Mark- ham had Shirley West four Colleen Cain rolled up an count to capture the inter mediate championship Donna collected nine Frances Hope eight Muriel Thompson and Linda staged an excellent race for the junior title It was points fur Muriel Thompson for Linda with Vivian in third
