campaign for fall and winter season memberships next week The campaign committee in this organization is renewing its efforts to keep bringing fine concerts to Newmarket The con certs usually three or four in a season have presented young Canadian concert artists and they have been en joyed by music lovers in Newmarket and Aurora and the surrounding district While the association is providing good music for the enjoyment of local audiences indirectly it is making a valuable contribution to assist Canadian talent and the study of music in Canada The experience and fin ancial rewards young artists receive while performing at community concerts assist them in their careers In the past few years numerous Concert Associa tions have been formed in Canadian communities It is interesting to note that Newmarket and stalling at the same time were the first in Canada to establish the AllCanadian series Since then there has been a great of talent including some who are now quite famous such as Lois Marshall James and Mary Syme There have been pianists harpists choruses string quartets ballet outstanding vocalists violinists and a singer of folk songs at least per formers including accompanists in Newmarket Many young artists have been heard who are now rising to public acclaim and the engagements they had here helped them to earn money gain experience and to grow into mature artists EDITORS NOTE IT WAS NECESSARY to omit material for an editorial page in this weeks issue of the Era and Ex- press Because of a heavy volume of news and adver tising at the last minute
