Orchard road resident Welch Cedar Valley was rescued from a seri ous pavein at his home Tuesday afternoon after groups of volun teers Mount Albert firemen and officers from the Vondorf detachment worked for two hours to free him Mr Welch was burled to his neck by a slide of sandy soil as he worked at the bottom of a 25foot well he was digging on his property Welch was being assisted by his wife who carried away the earth as he dug the well She hod not roalixcd he was so far down the hole which was not shored When a sidewall caved in on him Mrs Welch ran for help from neighbors An im mediate call was cent to both Mount Albert firemen and to the OPP while some neighbors cautiously descended the well to prevent the sand from smother ing the trapped man Sand kept falling down from the collapsed side of the wall the volunteers put a barrel around Welch and later used cul vert tile to protect him while volunteers dug at his sides Mr Welch suffered no injury from the accident and the raceway Credit Officers With Saving Mans Life By First Aid Treatment Two of the officers of Bond Lake Provincial police detach ment are credited with saving the life of a Lake Wilcox man He was found staggering and bleeding looking for help an auto crash Monday night The officers used their first aid knowledge to apply pressure on the temporal artery saving Edward Storey 38 from bleed ing to death Constables William MacDonald and John Hutchinson vere commended by Dr Craw ford Rose Aurora for their ef ficient first aid treatment Storey was a passenger in the car of a friend Vernon Collins a new resident of when they collided headon with the auto of a Toronto man Wil liam The force of the crash hurled Mr Storey through the windshield inflicting extens ive head cuts Collins and both Mr
