Fuller 13 was crowned Queen of Winter Carnival in an impressive scene at Lake Wilcox when the event was staged by the Oak Ridges Community Centre Committee on Saturday at Blue Spruce Park Dianne Mannock and Margaret Donnelley were the competitors After an offi cial welcome by president D Smith the parade of Queen con testants was held They rodo in a bright red cut ter with Pat driving a grey heavy horse from the Aurora Dairy The young ladies were attired in pastel colored leather jackets fancy and black strides Oak Ridges Northern Rangers under Capt ain Sid Sheldrake were the guard of honor with Ron Nor man as sergeant Judges were J Smith Ivan McLaughlin reeve of Whit church Elton Armstrong King township reeve J Picking Frank Fogg and Mrs With the of the winner by Fern Baron Master of ceremonies the official crowning was made Maureen a Brownie carried the crown on a gold satin cushion Mrs placed the regalia on the Queens head and threw the royal capo about her should ers Mr J Smith presented her with a trophy and J Pick ing presented the two waiting with compacts In a few moments the royal party was showered with bou quets of roses and boxes of gifts Guide Karen Davidson music under lights was the evening program The weatherman dealt an un kindly blow to the Carnival pro ject Mild weather for days all hut won out The events had been postponed on the previous Saturday to Feb with not much improvement In weather conditions However the Com munity Centre Committee des pite these and downs carried on under difficulty It Is the hope of the committee to restore Lake to
