you and to me Does Us significance revolve around a decorated tree bent low under the weight of presents wreaths of holly mistletoe or is it to be found in a star a manger the Ureal Gift to the world the Christ Child During the almost years years It is a joyous season a since shepherds knelt at the stable in their act of humble adoration this great festival of the Christina church ac quired and accepted many practices Have we lost our true perspective Do we place the emphasis on the wrong part of Christmas None of us would like to see this season divested of its lovely family traditions its generous giving and its happy memories Rather what we would prefer is a more proper blending of the two parts The emphasis be gins on Christmas as a holy day the birthday of the Babe of Bethlehem and not on Christmas as a holiday the celebration of I Santas visit How many of the parents who troubled to take their children to visit Santa also bothered to take them to see a presentation of the Nativity play at their Sun day school concert How many children will have the beautiful story from St Luke chapter as well as The Night Before Christmas read to them season of good tidings of great joy Let us not forget now that we have grown to adulthood to keep our family traditions a sacred part of Christmas As our children enter changing scene of daily living let us give them the security and love of happy family living The merriest of to you and your families May joy and happiness and an awareness of the One whose birthday we celebrate be present in your homes J The Newmarket branch held its annual Christmas party In the Agricultural Board rooms on Thu Dec Elrnan Campbell presided The district president Mrs Pollock branch visited the group and brought greetings to the Kewm ark t for both again it is a question of which is to receive the major share of our attentions The responsi bility rests largely on the mo to see that her children hear learn and belieycthat the true Christmas story Is not an outdated fable To parents falls the task of making the phrase on earth peace goodwill toward men meaningful and not just an empty grouping of words It is the things we learn in childhood which remain for ever fresh in our memories Christmas is a family matter It is the tantalizing smell of fa vorite foods cooking It is the picture of mother cheeks quite inspiring address Mrs Richardson read a story the Christmas theme by John Fisher and a Christmas carol singsong was enjoyed with Miss Margaret at the piano Mrs Frank Hodge won the draw on the donated Christmas cake A social halfhour eluded the afternoon when the many in attendance were serv ed dainty refreshments The members not attending the Christmas meeting missed a real treat Aurora branch regular month ly meeting will be held on the ovens heat evening Dec at pm a few wisps of hair back from her forehead It Is of expectancy which hangs libout the house Bui mostly Christmas is the things we cant express in words which add up to our own family It is those things which we go back to in times of trouble and loss When the fam ily circle Is broken when we come to that time ot empty places at the family table is to those warm happy of our childhood that we return Too frequently we are replac ing the Christ in Christmas with an the unknown quantity Isnt that what we do we allow a song about Rudolph the RedNosed Rein deer to replace Do you remember your alge bra Let equal something It was up to to set its value What have we made equal in our If we set a in the United church room Roll call An
