Bryan Upjohn of King about the smoke nuisance caused from op eration of a furnace fired by soft coal on King railway siding by the Storm Construction Co this fall This company is working on the TorontoBarrie highway He said an appeal to the de partment of health had resulted in the company using hard coal This he said brought little im provement While the furnace is not now in operation it would likely be started up again when work is resumed in the spring Mr Upjohn said the company has a fat contract and moved in within feet of his property He said the public is suffering Property if the pipe line were moved several feet south of its present terminal and an oil burning furnace installed by the company he believed the smoke nuisance would be eliminated as far as damage to property and detriment to health were con cerned He was told the town ship has no power to pass a by law regarding smoke or noise nuisances Mr Upjohn told council he would appreciate a letter
