Almost one year-Christmas 1943- Sergt. Bruce James Cullen, 30, was killed in action in Italy. This information has just come to the Independent this week. Sergt. Cullen was a son of Mrs. Cora M. Smith of Grimsby by a former marriage. He enlisted in September 1941 and trained at Camp Borden and in the United States for 2 years, as a paratrooper, and went overseas in September 1943. He was a member of the 48th Highlanders in Italy.
