Brian Myers, six, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Myers, 63 Fairview Avenue, was drowned Thursday afternoon when he apparently slipped from a dock in front of the Myer's summer cottage on Lake of Bays, near Dorset. Although the boy's father noticed his disappearance quickly, his efforts and those of other cottagers and hydro workmen failed to revive the boy although artificial respiration was applied for over 4 hours.

Mrs. Myers told The Independent, they allowed Brian to play on the dock, but that he was always in the habit of answering them when they called from the cottage. She could not ascertain how the boy got into the water, which was quite deep. Although a poor swimmer, the father, immediately on discovering the boy's disappearance, went into the water and brought the body to the surface.

Mrs. Myers and Brian have been at the cottage since late June, but this week Mr. Myers, who is an inspector for the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, was enjoying his annual holiday with his family at the Lake of Bays cottage.

The Myers family moved to Grimsby from Toronto 2 years ago, and Brian was to have entered Second Grade at the public school here this September.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Mrs. F.W. Kelly, of Aldershot, and Mr. and Mrs. C. Morrow, of Toronto.
