After a lingering illness of several weeks duration, George Wilmot Crittenden passed away in West Lincoln Memorial Hospital on Tuesday last in his 80th year.

Deceased was born in the little hamlet of Edgar in North Gwilliambury Township on June 2nd, 1874, a son of Alexander and Nancy (Pringle) Crittenden. In 1898 he married Jessie Gardner and in 1899 they moved to Southern Saskatchewan where they farmed until 1911, in which year they moved into Weyburn nd Mr. Crittenden entered the real estate business, but retired a year later to enter the coal business which he conducted until 1919. During that period he was 4 years in Weyburn Town Council.

In 1920 he and the family moved to Grimsby Beach and have resided there since. Having had a taste of municipal life in the western province it was only natural that he would turn his bend to municipal affairs in this district. In 1922 he was elected to North Grimsby Township Council but stepped out the next year. He returned to municipal life in 1924 and served as councillor until 1930 when he again voluntarily stepped out. But the lure was too strong, he came back and sat as councillor in 1933-34, and then retired again.

Things were not too good in the Fruit Belt in those depression Thirties so in 1937 he again entered municipal life and became Deputy Reeve and County Council Representative which position he held under the late Reeve Charles Durham until 1945, when he retired from active municipal life entirely. All told Mr. Crittenden gave 19 years of his life to the advancement of North Grimsby.

Deceased was a member and an Elder of St. John's Presbyterian Church, Grimsby, a member of Crescent Lodge I.O.O.F., Hamilton and of Alexina Rebekah Lodge, Grimsby.

Surviving besides his sorrowing widow are two daughters, Mrs. Al. Todd of Novelville, Ontario and Mrs. Allan Smith of Grimsby Beach. One sister, Mrs. Frances Tuck of Royal Oak, Vancouver Island, B.C., and one granddaughter. A grandson gave his all in World War II.

The remains are resting at the Stonehouse Funeral Home where services will be conducted this (Thursday) afternoon by Rev. J.P. McLeod of St. John's Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Queen's Lawn Cemetery.
