Muir, Frank Alexander (Died)

(St. Catharines Standard) A well-known St. Paul Street merchant, Frank Alexander Muir, beloved husband of Marie L. Richards, passed away Saturday morning at the family home, 34 Academy St., in his 63rd year, following a lengthy illness.
The late Mr. Muir came to Canada in 1909 from Scotland and resided in Hamilton. For many years he was associated with the William Milton Shoe Co. of that city, coming to St. Catharines in 1929, where he established the Muir Shoe Store, which he had successfully operated for the past 23 years. He was well-known in the retail shoe business throughout Ontario. He retired one year ago.
During the First World War, He served overseas with the 173rd Battalion of Hamilton. He was a member of Knox Church.
To mourn his passing, besides his sorrowing widow, he leaves one son Douglas, a theology student at the University of Toronto; two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Mabey of Hamilton, Bernice of this city; three brothers, George of Buffalo, Charles of Fort Erie and Fred of Hellensbrough, Scotland; one sister, Mrs. Mary McKay of the same place; and one grandchild, Marie Mabey of Hamilton.
(Note: The late Mr. Muir was well known in business circles in Grimsby having purchased the Farrell shoe store which he conducted for some years. He later closed this business out in order to confine all his interests to St. Catharines. - Ed.)
