Komariansky, Smn. A. Yakchuk, Army Cadets Michael Dyshuk, Walter Shumsky and Stephen Smerek. The soldiers, armed with rifles, very approâ€" priately stood at rigid attention in the majestic presence or our Lord in the Blessed Eucharist. The watch was kept throughout Good Friday and Holy Saturday. In the early dawn of Eastern morn, Resurrection services were held. Though the hour was six in the morning, already the parish church was crowded with the faithâ€" ful, The comfortable pews which were installed a few weeks prior were very accommodating for the many who occupied them. Howâ€" ever, the congregation was so unâ€" expectingly large that many were obliged to stand in the aisles. This year the attendance far surpassed all previous Easter gatherings. The folowing day Easter services were resumed but with greater joy than ever ‘before. During the Divine Liturgy, the war was ofâ€" ficially announced as over. Simulâ€" taneously, Father Kohut announced to the gathered congregation the welcoming news. In such manner, the remaining services were rendâ€" ered in thanks to the Almighty God for bringing to a close another terrible chapter of historyâ€"World War II in Europe. Special prayers were offered and, also, supplicaâ€" tions that the coming peace may be ‘based on justice and the principles of Christianity. Solemn High Mass was celebratâ€" ed by Rev. F‘r. Ignace Lesiuk, OS BM and the Easter Gospel from St. John was delivered in five lanâ€" guagesâ€"Paleoslavic, Greek, Latin, Ukrainian and English. In this manner, the Catholic Church exâ€" prsses her great joy upon this day and proclaims these glad tidings in all languages for all to share in her joyous triumph. Assisting at the Mass were the Basilian Theoâ€" logians and Father Superior N. Kohut read the Bishop‘s Easter message to the faithful. The allâ€" male choir from Thorold, Ont., unâ€" der the capable direction of conducâ€" tor D. Kosteniuk, sang the Reâ€" sponsa of the Mass very Beautiâ€" fully,. In the evening Vespers and May Devotions were sang. Later a sound film of a religious charâ€" acter was presented in the Church Hall by Brother Adrian, OSBM.
