The score iby periods was 3â€"1, 5â€"1 and 7â€"1, with ‘the result never in . _doubt. The Kings speed was dazâ€" zling and they slipped the old disc around to each other so "fast and freâ€" quently that their opposition was beâ€" wildered. The forwards, ledâ€" by Reid, backchecked furiously and gimpâ€" ly smothered the Brantfordites with their speed, Reid, Clarke, Foulis and Hayhoe each got a tally, Blondy‘s ‘being a particularly nice piece of work. â€" The McVicarâ€"Carson defense was very imuch in the limelight ofâ€" fensively. ‘The lanky one ‘helped himself to a tally, while Jerry rang the bell twice. Both ded numerous dangerous rushes (but their defense play hWas to be brushed up a little more before they reach the high standard they set last season. Burnside was very «effective, ‘but had hard luck with hig shots. The old man has «about a dozen goalgs in his system and when hisg Jluck changes some goalie is going to ‘be made to look 4€oolisgsh. Our own Buddy was strictly on the job, the only shot beating him “beliamg a hot drive from (Bunn off the wight wing. â€" Bunn ‘wag the ‘best for the Homesters. The exâ€"Cayugaâ€"Grimsâ€" byâ€"Port Dover dad is going great guns and was a constant source of worry. The Brantford goalie, Holland, had an extremely lucky evening and stopâ€" ed @hout a million. A packed house greeted the performance. A crowd of the game size at the local arena would cause Sammy Bonham to do a ‘Highland â€" Fling. Harold â€" Farlon handled the game very well. .~._BRBRANTEORD....._.._.._‘___.. GRIMSBY Hollands ... Clasg will tell â€" the Peach Kings were a Jlong time letting the world ‘know about theirs, but they came to dlife with a vengance at Paris on Friday »night and: simply swamped their Brantford opponents by a 7â€"1 score. The Kings had their backs to tha _ wall, Aâ€" defeat â€" practically meant ‘blocie to their chances of figâ€" uring in the playâ€"off so the boys went to work in earnest. The old gameâ€" ness, team work and team spirit, which carried _ them â€" so far last season, was very much in evidence and the itelephone city crew did not have a chance. Now ithat Reid and Co. have started to step out, just watch their smoke.\ Grimsby Peach Kings 4 Smother Brantford EIGHT SPORT _ GRIMSBY .... Figher __The local juniors suffered their first deféat of the season at Port Colâ€" borne Monday night the homesters taking our ‘boys into camp by a 2â€"1 score. As the Port had lost three straight games and the Peach Buds had won a like number it looked like apple pie for them which perhaps acâ€" counted for the defeat. The condition of the ice and the heavy atmosphere tended to make the game a listless one and it was only in the third spasm that any real excitement occurred. The locals, being a lighter team and using more combination play, suffered more from theâ€"effects of the weather conâ€" ditions than did the homesters. The homesters also got the benefit of the breaks of the game, Old Lady Luck, plus uncanny goal keeping on the part of Cuthbert, kept the Buds‘ tally down to one, although they netted another which Referee Burmister reâ€" fused to allow, claiming that one of our players" was offside at the time. The first period was scoreless although both goalies were kept extraordinarily busy at times. Hillier netted our only tally in the second periodâ€"a hot drive from just outside of the defence beatâ€" ing Cuthbert. This was the only counter of the period and from the way the lads were playing it looked plenty :good enough to win. After seven minutes of play in the last period Hatch put his team on even footing by slamming one past Marsh. It looked like an offside to us, but it counted just the same. Horne dupâ€" licated the performance a few minutes later, Â¥arsh having no chance to save. The Buds then came to life and staged a fierce rally. Shot after shot was rained on Cuthbert but that worthy wasn‘t letting any in. Arbour got injured when trying to â€" crash through our defence. A Col. Farrell to Ping Hill to Red Farrell netted the disc for what should have ‘been the tieing score, but the play was called for offside work. Col. Farrell and Horne clashed, and each drew five minutes. The Buds attacked strongly several times having shots ticketed for goals but Cuthbert successfully kept them out. Outside of Cuthbert. Horne and Arbour were best for the Port team. Marsh in our nets tended a whale of a game. The Hillierâ€"McCartâ€" ney defence was good, both blocking well and leading many nice attacks.\ Ping Hill‘s offensive work was mighty good but he didn‘t handle his check as well as he might have. The bwoi Farrells, Red and Colonel, turned# in nice cards. Both checked exceptionâ€" ally well, worked hard all evening and only the hardest of luck prevented them, from _ getting several tallies. Rummery and Robertson as relief men. got plenty to do and filled their posiâ€" tionsâ€"nicely. â€" Burmister â€"of. Welland (Continued on Page Four.) Johnson ......Defence...... The Peach Kings proved to a capacity holuse, and incidentally their Port Colborne rivals, that they had hit their stride by defeating Kilâ€" patrick and Company by a 3â€"O0 score. With the Champions playing the brand of hockey they disi last evening there isn‘t an intermediate team in the country that can trim themâ€"and that goes for plenty of senior outfits too. It was an ideal game to watchâ€"speed galoreâ€"wonderful ~goal tending by both Moore and Fisherâ€"clever defenâ€" sive workâ€"some flice body chécki and the Peach ,Kings won. â€" What more could a fan desire? ~ PEACH KINGS STEP ON GA:S Defeat Port Colborne In Snapq Game At Local Arena Last Night. third goal. Kilpatrick got a penalty for hooking Clarke and Irvin followed him for an illegal check. The Kings made life miserable for Moore but couldn‘t tally another. The Peach Kings as a whole and. individually produced their ‘best hockey of the season. Fisher made many wonderful saves and played them all safely. The McVicarâ€"Carson defence was in its oldâ€"time form, the way they blocked the opposition and ran the puck carâ€" riers into the corners was a treat. Both staged numerous excursions into enemy territoryâ€" which were always dangerous. Bud, Mac and Jerry seem to have attained the form that .brought them so much prominence last season. Pud, Clarkie and Impy had speed to give away on the front line, back checked well and uncorked some rare old combination play. Burnside and Hayhoe were used for relief and both got lots of work.. The old man and Blondy were fully as effective as the others and fitted into the order of things nicely.. The Ports‘ sterling little net guardian, Dinty Moore was in noâ€" manffer responsible for his‘ team‘s defeat.. His work was nothing short of miraculous at times and with{ an average goalie his team would have been swamped. The others all played hard, persistent hockey, gave all they had, but had to bow to a superior team. Harold Mitchell handled the game nicely. The Kings are at home again Friday night with Niagara Falls as the visiting team. These teams had to go ten minutes overtime for a decision at Hamilton, the locals winning 4â€"3. The local kids areâ€"playâ€" ing wonderful hockey and as it is a case of do or die, with iboth outfits a real struggle should be dished up.
