The grape growers want heat and good growing conditions; the peach crop, such as it is, is being delayed; in fact, conditions generally are vyery much backward. Gardens also are suffering. As this is written, however, the sun is showing more strength and. warmth than has been the case for ten days, and where there is warm sun there is hope. _ A bad accident occurred on the bighway at the corner of Main and Elm streets on Thursday morning, about 2 o‘clock when a large Paige touring car coming from Hamiilton, ran into the curb that surrounds a flower ‘bed belonging to the hortiâ€" cultural society at this point. â€" The car is owned by Mr. Hayhurst, of Grimsby Beach, and it was damaged to the extent ofâ€" $500. Thereâ€" were three occupants in the car, one being very ‘badly cut about the face by flyâ€" ing glass. There didn‘t seem to be a very clear explanation as to how it happened,. so Constable Wentworth summoned the parties and the magisâ€" trate imposed a fine of $10 on the driver for excessive speeding. i A bakery at 153 McA‘Nulty bouleâ€" vard, Hamilton, was the scene of a blaze which promised to be serious at about 4.30 Sunday afternoon. It is owned by the firm of Heddon & Strong, formerly of Grimsby. A deâ€" fective oven became overheated, with the result that the floor in front of it burst into flames. <«The blaze spread rapidly, and only the fast trip made by the fire trucks saved the building. The damage was estimated at about $1000. 6 On the nights of Thursday, Friday and Saturday, September 25, 26 and 27 the annual bazaar of St. Joseph‘s Church, will be held in The Indepenâ€" dent Hall and a whale of a time is promised for all and sundry.
