The basket situation for the coming season looks very favorable and the prices have been reduced. Growers are advised, however, to place their order early for in case of a heavy fruit crop there may be a shortage at the time of picking. During the past season the company had a gross sale in baskets of $90,- 251.46. Following is a list ot the numben of carloads shipped from the various stations. _ All of the 6-qt. baskets were sold in the Canadian markets and practically all the II-qt. and 12-qt. baskets were sold in the American markets. The first meeting of the new year was held at Beamsville on Tuesday last when reports were presented and where all the growers expressed themselves as satisfied with the sea- sons's transactions. At that meeting 32 growers signed the new contracts, representing about 215 acres. The next meeting will be held in this city on Saturday afternoon. According to present prospects the company this year will handle all the grapes in the) district. i The Niagara District Grape Growl ers, Ltd., have concluded a most suc- cessful season’s business, a season in which they sold 754 cars of grapes and made a gross turn over of 8892,- 206.40. During the season an sx- periment was tried in placing grapes in cold storage; 50 cars were placed in storage at a time when their pre- sence on the market would not only have broken the market but would have caused the company a lotsa ot about $10,000. The storage of the, 60,000 12-quart baskets, proved high- ly successful and resulted in a saving of $10,000. The success of this ven- ture proved to the company the ad- visability of erecting cold storage plants and this work is now under contemplation. SHAPE (lilllllliillS Blil A MUST SilllilliWill.
